Apple Order Fraud - Security Breach!
Well I've given Apple enough time to try and respond to this and made numerous calls, but once again their customer service has been frankly appalling. I will be interested to know if anyone else has suffered the same experience and had their order breached.
In a nutshell, a stranger managed to send an email into Apple on my pre-order worth £2,000+ and change the delivery address to their own!! No security check - just an email and quoting my account number (which I assume they worked out by trial and error). I only noticed this when I checked over the despatch email from Apple, but the address could not be changed back until the last minute when it arrived in the UK.
I have the log, and thus proof, of how this happened from the customer support team but no-one at Apple will give me a straightfoward answer to how this happened and if anyone else would be affected by this fraudulent scam.
I'm hoping this was just a one-off innocent mistake - but quite a high value mistake to make - and what if it wasn't and this has happened before and could happen again to other customers?
